BEAUTY- the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).

The word beauty is everywhere in the mass media, where is alludes to a combination of sex appeal, luxury, celebrity, and wealth. It is never entirely clear what exactly beauty is though. Beauty is strongly identified with fashion, especially in conjunction to Hollywood. But to me, the same type of beauty found in fashion can be found in architecture. The evolution of beauty in both aspects can be distinguished between its different styles. An older fashion designer or architect identifies strongly with the traditional approach to beauty, while a younger designer may take an edgier approach.  Although fashion and luxury design objects have long been described as beautiful, the word never truly entered the dictionary of twentieth-century architecture.

My next investigation is, how are the processes of designing fashion and designing architecture similar?
